Sister Marilyn Keller

October 21, 1930 — September 20, 2020

Tiffin

Sister Marilyn Keller, 89, of the Sisters of St. Francis, Tiffin, died at 5:01 p.m. Sunday, September 20, 2020, at St. Francis Home.

She was born October 21, 1930, in Shelby to Stephen H. Keller and Martha A. (Brown) Keller of Sacred Heart Parish Bethlehem, Ohio.

Sister Marilyn is survived by a brother, Steve Keller of Shelby.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Pauline Keller and Florence (Keller) Gabele; and five brothers, Urban Keller, Norbert Keller, Carl Keller, Dale Keller, and Brother Richard Keller.

Sister Marilyn served as a caregiver wherever she was. Initially her nursing career began as the infirmarian for the Sisters living at the motherhouse in Tiffin. Her continuing care for others led her to St. Anthony Villa in Toledo, Ohio where care served as a nurse for the children living there. Her desire to care for others led her to Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky. While she was there she served as the medical-surgical supervisor, assistant director of nursing, and patient admission and discharge coordinator. Returning to Tiffin, Ohio Sister Marilyn served on the leadership team of the Sisters of St. Francis as the Motherhouse Health Care coordinator. It seemed like a natural transition for her as she became the admission coordinator at St. Francis Home and later she became the sacristan and a member of the spiritual care team. Following her time at St. Francis Home, Sister Marilyn served the community by being a Minister of Prayer, Presence, and Service. Several years later she returned to St. Francis Home as a resident. At the time of her death she served as a Minister of Prayer for the Congregation.
Sister Marilyn was a very fun-loving person. As a Cleveland Indian’s fan, she attended many games with family and friends. She shared her creativity when it came to decorating and writing. Over the years she wrote many articles for the community newsletter known as Wheatfields. In 1998 when she celebrated her Golden Jubilee she said, “There are three things in life that matter – family and friends, good chocolate, and a hot air balloon ride.
