Richard I. Clouse

Richard I. Clouse, 96, of Tiffin, died at 9:58 pm Thursday, November 7, 2019, at Mercy Health Tiffin Hospital.

Richard was born September 23, 1923, in Tiffin to Edward and Louise (Walters) Clouse.  He married Florence A. Geren February 26, 1944, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria and she died June 28, 2003.

Survivors include two sons, Arthur (Sandra) Clouse of Marion, Jeffrey (Cindy) Clouse of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Richard (Alissa) Clouse, Christopher Oswalt, David Grouls, Angela (Joel) Kahney, Carrie (Michael Buckels) Clouse; five great-grandchildren, Stacia  and C.J. Oswalt; Sophia, Olivia and Jackson Kahney and two great-great grandchildren, Brylee and Haden Palin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a brother, Arthur Clouse; two sisters, Helen Hemminger and Mildred Huffman; and a daughter and son-in law, Linda and David Grouls.

Richard served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, from 1942 to 1945.  He retired from the National Machinery Company in 1987, after 25 years as a machinist and was a member of its Quarter Century Club, St. Joseph Catholic Church, and the American Legion # 354, of New Riegel. He enjoyed woodworking in his basement after his retirement.  He was an avid euchre and pinochle player.

The family wishes to thank Richard’s best friend and card playing partner, Art Myers, who was always there to help Richard with anything.

Visitation for family and friends will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Sunday, November 10, 2019, at the Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419)-447-3113. A wake service will be at 1:30 p.m at the funeral home.  The National Machinery Quarter Century Club will meet at 7 p.m.

Prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m., Monday, November 11, 2019, at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. The rosary will be recited 20 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with military rites provided by the Seneca County United Veterans Council.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church Organ Fund, Stein Hospice or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
