Paul C. Fisher, 102, a resident of The Willows at Tiffin, died at 4:12 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2023, at Mercy Health-Tiffin Hospital. He was born November 7, 1920, in Fremont, to Urban Albert and Gertrude Margaret (Wasserman) Fisher. He married Leora Bryant June 4, 1947, at St. Ann Catholic Church, Toledo, and she died July 14, 2000.

Survivors include a son Michael (Nancy) Fisher of Columbus; three daughters, Ann (John) Hurray of Ellenton, Florida, Patricia (David) Vaughn of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Jane Fisher of Dunedin, Florida; seven grandchildren,  John (Vera) Fisher of Zorneding, Germany, Ellen (Joseph) Wertz of Eagan, Minnesota, Kristen (Jeff Kerley) Hurray of St. Petersburg, Florida, Carolyn (Eric) Busalacchi, Bethany (Christopher) Dunakin, both of Chelmsford, Massachusetts, Matthew (Jennifer) Vaughn of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Michael (Eric Fox) Vaughn of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; 12 great-grandchildren, Paul and Daniel Fisher, Mya (Matthew) Cross, Evan Bohlander, Nolan, and Matthew Busalacchi, Jeffrey and Thomas Dunakin, Sydney and Jackson Vaughn, Kylie Vaughn-Fox, and Edward Wertz; a sister, Joan Foos of Fremont, sisters-in-law, Phyllis Fisher and Ethel Fisher, both of Fremont, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, six brothers, Howard, Lawrence, Leon, George, Roman, and Norman Fisher; three sisters, Linda Etzel, Marie Shammo, and Alice Fisher.

Paul attended St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School, Fremont, and was a 1938 graduate of St. Joseph High School, Fremont. He was a WWII United States Army veteran serving from October 7, 1942 - March 9, 1946.
He served overseas in England, Wales, France, and Belgium. He was awarded the American Theater Ribbon, EAME Theater Ribbon, and the WWII Victory Medal.

He worked at Standard Oil of Ohio (Sohio) for more than 35 years, including two years in Alaska, with the Alyeska Pipeline Company during the construction of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline from Prudhoe Bay to Valdez. He retired in May of 1983. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Sohio Quarter Century Club, Sohio Recreation Club, serving as President, Vice President, and Treasurer, and the Sunday Night Bridge Club since 1972.

The family of Paul would like to thank the assisted living staff at The Willows at Tiffin for their exceptional care and dedication to Paul. They also would like to express their appreciation to Paul’s fellow pinochle enthusiasts at Allen Eiry Senior Center for many entertaining Thursday afternoons.

Visitation for family and friends will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, January 20, 2023, at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe St. Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113. There will be a wake service at the funeral home.

Funeral Mass will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, with Rev. Anthony Coci officiating. The rosary will be recited 30 minutes prior to the Mass at the church.
Burial will take place immediately following in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Tiffin. The United Veteran’s Council will perform military rites at the grave.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, or to St. Joseph Catholic High School, Fremont.
