Melvin A. Frank, 84, of rural Tiffin, died at 6:48 a.m. Sunday, September 6, 2020, at Mercy Health Tiffin Hospital.
He was born July 12, 1936, in Ottawa, Ohio, to Louis H. and Clara F. (Kaufman) Frank. He married Carolyn A. Steinmetz on July 16, 1955, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, and she survives.
Other family members include three sons, Donald (Darren) Frank of Tiffin, David (Suzanne) Frank of Tiffin, and Roger (Dana) Frank of Bowling Green; four daughters, Linda (Richard) Gosche of Fostoria, Jane (Dwayne) Hoschar of New Riegel, Debra (the late Gregg) Frazier of Rawson, and Joyce (Eric) Shoup of Republic; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren on the way; and a sister, Erma (Merle) Reinhart of Bascom.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Othmar Frank, and two sisters, Rosella Kreais and Dorothy Welly, who died the day before Melvin.
Mr. Frank served in the National Guard and retired in 1994 after 40 years at American Standard. He was a member of All Saints Parish Bascom Site (formerly St. Patrick Catholic Church), and was a life member of the American Legion Post 354 of New Riegel. He enjoyed working in his shop and being in the outdoors. He loved spending time with family and attending sporting events.
A masked walkthrough visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113. Visitors are asked to wear masks and social distance as they walk through, pay respects, and exit without lingering.
Prayers will be said at 9:20 a.m. Thursday, September 10, 2020, at the funeral home, followed by the funeral Mass at 10 a.m., at All Saints Parish, New Riegel. The Rosary will be recited 30 minutes prior to Mass. Rev. Timothy Kummerer will officiate, and burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Bascom.
