Mary Ellen (Wangler) Crist

Mary Ellen Crist, 84, of Tiffin, died at 3:50 a.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Tiffin Rehab Center, Tiffin, Ohio.  She was born January 13, 1939, in Tiffin to Harman and Martha (Schultz) Wangler.  She married William Crist August 11, 1962, at St. Mary Catholic Church, and he survives.

Other survivors include a son, James (Sarah) Crist of Clyde; four daughters, Jennifer (Thomas) White of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Juliet (David) Bullock of Columbus,  Joan (B.Scott) Musgrave of Upper Sandusky, Jill (Daryl) Schwochow of Galena; 13 grandchildren, Zachary (Heather) White, Erin White, Claire White, Emily Bullock, Anna Bullock, Abigail Musgrave and Fiance (Cody Clifford) , Samuel Musgrave, Noah Shirvani, Alyssa Schwochow, Allyson (Daniel) Winger, Sophie Crist, Nickolas (Bre Blake) Davenport, Alexander (Cassandra) Davenport; two great-grandsons, Hudson White and Jackson White.

She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Donald Wangler, and Robert Wangler.

Mary Ellen was a 1956 Calvert High School graduate and attended Ohio State University; She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.  She retired as a dental hygienist, and she last worked for her daughter Joan. Mary Ellen always provided love and support for her children who adored her. She raised them to be kind but also taught them to be strong. She loved watching them in their extracurricular activities and continued to watch her grandchildren's activities. Not only did she love her children, but she loved her fur babies. She took in countless stray animals and gave them a home. She enjoyed walking her dog, reading, and cooking. She was an amazing cook and passed down the passion of cooking to her children. Her recipes are cherished items that she gave out to family and friends. She loved trying new restaurants and tried to figure out what the meal consisted of, not to critique the chef but to replicate the recipe at home. She will be remembered by all for being a loving and caring woman that was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Visitation for family and friends will be 8:30-9:30 am Saturday, April 15, 2023,  at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, followed by the funeral Mass at 10 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church.  Rev. Anthony Coci will officiate.  The rosary will be recited 30 minutes prior to the Mass at the church.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
