Carol Jean “Jeannie” Hiett, 83, of Tiffin, died at 2:30 pm Monday, October 30, 2023, at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Hospital, Lima.
Jeannie was born June 11, 1940, to Paul Berwyn and Bertha Lois (Spanfellner) Ladd in Gibsonburg. She married Howard Ray Hiett, July 11, 1964, in Bell County, Texas, and he died October 27, 2022.
Survivors include two daughters, Teresa Traxler (Patrick Karcher) of Tiffin, Angelique Nelson (Timothy Rockwell) of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; three granddaughters, Samantha (Kyle) Struble, Sarah (Marshall) Traxler-Lamming, Sabrina Nelson; a brother, Bernard Eugene “Ben” (Marilee) Ladd of Tiffin; a sister, Rochelle Ann “Shelly” Miller of Tiffin; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband.
Jeannie was a 1958 graduate of Fremont Ross High School and attended Woodville High School into her senior year. She had worked as a salesclerk at Kuebler Shoes, Lee’s Shoes, Joseph’s, and the Stage store, sang in choir, taught Sunday School and VBS, was a member of Family of Faith Lutheran Church and Eastern Stars. Jeannie enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, sewing, listening to, and making music.
A visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 4, 2023, at the Family of Faith Lutheran Church located at the back of the Tiffin Mall, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. at the church, officiated by Rev. Philip Moerdyk.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Family of Faith Building Fund.
