Tiffin

Carl P. Zoeller, 65, of Tiffin, passed away at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, July 15, 2021, at St. Francis Home.

He was born November 21, 1955, in Tiffin, to Joseph John and Georgetta Ann (LaFountaine) Zoeller-Hursey.

Survivors include a sister, Sharon A. Straub of Tiffin; and his special friend, Mary Lou Miller.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Zoeller in 1965, his mother, Georgetta Hursey in 2017; a brother, Michael Joseph Zoeller in 2007; and a niece, Elisha Straub Boehler in 2010.

Carl attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and Columbian High School.  After high school, Carl worked for M & B Asphalt and ITT Abrasive.

In 1976, he moved to California.  Carl worked for Del Ray Trucking and later worked in commercial plumbing with Westar Plumbing Company for over 20 years.  Carl came back to Ohio when his brother, Mike, was sick with cancer to help with his care and later with his mother’s care.  Carl’s greatest accomplishment was obtaining his G.E.D. in July of 2012 which allowed him a job at Tiffin Webster Industries.

Carl enjoyed talking with all types of people, collecting and refinishing old furniture, and going to casinos.  He was a fan of the Bengals, Ohio State and Santa Maria Racing Tracks.  He had a love for good country music and attended many concerts over the years.  He had this saying “Good things happen to good people.”

Carl’s sister wants to extend a special “Thank You” to Janis and Otis Baker for the home cooked meals they sent to Carl and all the caring people in Carl’s apartment complex.  Also, anyone who took the time to send Carl a card, letter or a phone call which he so enjoyed.  Not forgetting the special St. Francis nurse’s aides who took extra care with him. God Bless you all.

As per Carl’s request, there will be no visitation, only a private family graveside service and burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe St. Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113.
