Werner Paul Obringer, 83, of Coe Street, Tiffin, Ohio died at 10 am, Thursday, December 25, 2008 at his residence.
He was born May 4, 1925 in Burkettsville, Ohio, to the late John T. and Theresa M. (Hemmelgarn) Obringer. On October 9,1948 he married Joan Dolores Schock at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin, and she died September 19, 2008.
Survivors include; three sons, William (Betty) Obringer, Joseph (Nancy) Obringer, Patrick (Milissa) Obringer, all of Tiffin; four daughters, Diane (David) Gaietto of Auburn, Indiana, Phyllis (Dennis) Hyde, Eileen (Vincent) Gaietto, Theresa (Marvin) Keefe, all of Tiffin; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Edward, Jerome, and Carl Obringer all of Fort Recovery, and Ralph Obringer of Coldwater, Ohio; and three sisters, Alvira Kaiser of Fort Recovery, Sister Casilda of Dayton, and Dorothy Denney of Hamilton, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, David Gaietto, and a sister Rosemary Metzger.
Mr. Obringer attended Fort Recovery High School and was a life-long farmer. He retired in 1987 from National Machinery Company, and was also a self-employed plasterer. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Werner’s hobbies included playing cards, watching Cleveland Indians baseball, and working on the family farm. He was a caring person, a great conversationalist, and his generous nature was an inspiration to us all.
The Funeral Mass will be officiated by the Rev. Joseph Szybka at 11:00 am Monday, December 29, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Tiffin. The rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will be immediately following at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-4, and 6-8 pm, Sunday, December 28, 2008 at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 South Monroe St. Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-3113. The Wake Service will be 1:45 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to Community Hospice Care or St. Joseph Church, in care of Traunero Funeral Home.
