Virginia Ann (Dietsch) Scheiber, 91, of Wilmington, Delaware, passed into eternal life on April 26, 2026.
Virginia was born on December 9, 1934, to Marie (Mack) and B. Franklin Dietsch in Edgerton, Ohio. Raised on the family farm, she was never short of stories from her childhood. She graduated from Edgerton High School with classmates who had been with her since kindergarten. Virginia’s RN degree (1955) was from St. Mary’s College, Holy Cross School of Nursing, Notre Dame, IN. She carried that training and love of healing throughout her life.
Virginia married Dr. David H. Scheiber of Tiffin, Ohio, in 1956 and is survived by her five children, Kathleen (Jack) Hart of Cincinnati, OH, David (Carolyn) Scheiber of Los Angeles, CA, Suzanne (Jim) Nawrocki of Austin, TX, Mary (Mark) Oliphant of Lisle, IL, and Stephen Scheiber of Brownsville, TX. Virginia’s siblings, Charles Dietsch, Marvin (late Jane) Dietsch, Karl (Katie) Dietsch, and Dolores (late Don) Berry, will miss their adventurous sister. She was preceded in death by her husband David and her younger brother Maurice.
She was deeply grateful to watch her grandchildren grow and pursue their own unique paths in life. With a wide range of talents, careers, and temperaments, they brought her endless pride and joy. She delighted in celebrating their milestones, from personal achievements to weddings, always appreciating the individuality that made each one special: Brian (Danielle) Hart, Shannon (Allan) Burwinkel, Katherine (Dudley) Thiel; Daniel Nawrocki, Laura (Daniel) Krcmaric, Michael (Rose) Nawrocki, Evan Nawrocki; Jeremy Oliphant, Madeline Oliphant; and David Scheiber, Leo Scheiber, and Susie Scheiber. Virginia was lovingly known as “Grandma Honey Bunny” as her family continued to grow, warmly welcoming 17 great-grandchildren into her life. It didn’t take long for Grandma Honey Bunny to introduce the latest generation to her passion for ice cream and parties.
The family would like to thank Cadia Rehabilitation Center in Wilmington, Delaware, for the compassionate care provided over the past two months. Words cannot express our gratitude for the invaluable friendship of Ken and Maryanne Przywara, and Marie and Joe Scheib, whose support allowed Mom to spend her final years with the independence she valued.
Visitation for family and friends will be 8:30 – 9:30 am Saturday, May 9, at TRAUNERO FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, at 10 am. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Donations in Virginia’s memory may be made to Birthright of Wilmington, 1311 N. Scott St., Wilmington, DE 19806.
