Vern E. Fisher, age 69 of Jackson Street, Tiffin, Ohio died on Monday, June 1, 2009 at 10:50 am at the Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center, Tiffin. He was born on May 21, 1940 in Tiffin to the late Edwin and Alberta (Lucius) Fisher. In 1965 he married Shirley Stuckert and they later divorced. On May 22, 1976 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Tiffin, he married Shirley Hahler Esposito, and she survives.

Other survivors include a son, Vern E. (Rosemary) Fisher, II of Archbold, Ohio; six daughters, Lynnette ( Mike) Darfus of Tiffin; Gina (Jim) Reuter of Tiffin; Kimberly (Chris) Bailey of Westerville; Malinda (Victor) Salazar of Tiffin; Christina Fisher of Columbus and Cassandra (Rob) Hill of Rockville, MD; 13 grandchildren; two sisters, Carol (Robert) Mitten of Toledo, and Ancilla (Wade) Beamer of Attica, and a brother-in-law, John Neff of Knoxville, TN.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Sylvia Neff.

Vern attended Calvert High School. He had served in the United States Navy. He retired in 1992 after serving 27 years with the Tiffin Fire Department.

Vern enjoyed hunting, trap shooting, and cooking for his family. He loved to attend his grandchildren’s sporting events. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the NRA and the American Trap Association.

Family and friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113. There will be a wake service at 7:45 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.

Prayers will be said at 9:30 am Thursday at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be at 10 am Thursday, June 4, 2009 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Eric Culler officiating. The rosary will be said 20 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will take place immediately following in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. The United Veteran’s Council of Seneca County will perform military rites at the gravesite.

Contributions may be made to the Firefighter’s Toy Fund or to the Arthur G. James Cancer Center, Columbus, Ohio in care of Traunero Funeral Home.
