Stephen Lawrence Hartenstein

Stephen L. "Steve" Hartenstein, 84, of Tiffin, died at 10:15 pm Thursday, April 8, 2021, at The Willows of Tiffin.

He was born May 8, 1936, in Bettsville, Ohio, to Alfred and Cora (Bullinger) Hartenstein.  He married Carmela Patuto November 16, 1957, and she survives.

Also surviving are three sons, David (Sally) Hartenstein of Hampton Falls, NH, Steven "Danny" (Sandy) Hartenstein of Idaho Falls, ID, and Douglas (Vicki) Hartenstein of Tiffin; three daughters, Dianna (John) Queen of North Canton, Ohio, Donna (John) Luedy of Mansfield, and Dora (Brett) Graham of Attica; 15 grandchildren, three great grandchildren and one great grandchild on the way; four brothers, Gregory (Elaine) Hartenstein of Henrietta, NY, Michael (Sue) Hartenstein of Fremont, Patrick (Ann) Hartenstein of New Riegel, and Paul (Evelyn) Hartenstein of Wakeman, Ohio; and a sister, Judith Schleter of Tiffin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Erinn Elizabeth Hartenstein, four sisters, Gladys Cunningham, Alfreda Dannemiller, Ethella Cook, and Mercedes Miller; and a brother-in-law, Robert Schleter.

Steve was a 1954 graduate of Bettsville High School and attended the Toledo Barber School.  He was a barber in Bloomville for nearly 50 years.  He also was a stone truck driver for France Stone Quarry in Bloomville.  He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

A walk-through visitation will be 3 to 7 pm Tuesday, April 13, 2021, with a Wake Service at 7, at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio  44883 (419)447-3113.  Visitors are asked to wear masks and social distance without lingering.

Prayers will be said at 9:30 am Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at the funeral home, followed by the funeral Mass at 10 am, at St. Mary Catholic Church.  Revs. Matthew Rader and Joseph Szybka will concelebrate.  Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.  The Rosary will be recited in church 30 minutes prior to Mass.
