Sister M. Thomas Kill, age 74, of the Sisters of St. Francis,200 St. Francis Avenue, Tiffin, Ohio died 7:03 a.m. Sunday, March 16, 2003 at the St. Francis Convent, Tiffin. She was born on July 6, 1928 in Akron, Ohio to Eugene and Rosalia B. (Gengler) Kill. Her mother survives in Tiffin.
Other survivors include 1 brother, Rev. Robert J. Kill of Ohio; and 1 sister, Sr. Marietta Kill, a member of the Tiffin Franciscan Community. Her father, Eugene, precedes her.Sr. Thomas Kill attended the college of St. Francis, in Joliet, Illinois. She was received into the order on August 12, 1946, professed her First Vows on August 12, 1948, and took her Final Vows on August 12, 1951.
Sr. Thomas was a teacher from 1949 to 1965 at New Washington, Edgerton, Carey, Miller City, and Blakeslee and was a music teacher and director of the St. Francis School of Music. From 1982-1987 she taught music in Maggie Valley, NC. And then she returned to Tiffin, in 1988 to resume duties as music teacher at the St. Francis School of Music. She had been retired since 2000, but she still helped at the Franciscan Renewal Center in Tiffin and at the Pilgrim House in Carey.
A Wake Service will be 4 pm Monday at the Convent Chapel. Burial will be in the Convent Cemetery.
