Robert L. Joyce, 74, formerly of Hedges Street, Tiffin died at 2:25 pm Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at the Elmwood at the Shawhan, Tiffin.
He was born on February 19, 1935 to the late, Thomas and Ruth (Gilley) Joyce in Welch, W. Va.. On June 9, 1962 he married Gayle Hahn in Willowick, OH and she survives in Tiffin.
Robert is also survived by one son, Sean (Chris) Joyce of Tiffin; two grandchildren, Maggie and Mollie Joyce of Tiffin; and two half-brothers, Thomas (Mercy) Joyce and James Joyce.
Robert was a 1952 graduate of Welch High School, a 1955 graduate of Concord College; and he earned his Masters of English and his ABD from Ohio State University. He was a college professor of English and an Administrator at Heidelberg College. He was a member of Old Trinity Episcopal Church of Tiffin where he served on vestry, was a lay reader, warden, and in the choir.
He was a Ritz Player, and a member of the Tiffin City School Board for 13 years. He was also active in Habitat for Humanity of Tiffin, and the Seneca County Commission on Aging. Robert enjoyed reading, fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family.

A funeral service will be held for Robert at 11 AM, Monday, January 4, 2010 at Old Trinity Episcopal Church, with the Rev. John Reinheimer officiating. Burial will be immediately following in Greenlawn Cemetery.
