Robert Richard “Bob” Haefling, 93 of Tiffin, died at 9:52 p.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2020, at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay, Ohio.

He was born February 7, 1927, in Tiffin to Francis Peter and Helen Catherine (Huffmon) Haefling. His mother died when he was two, and he and his brother Louis, were raised by their Grandfather and Grandmother, Jim and Mary Huffmon.  His father remarried to Mary Huffman and all are deceased.  He married Audrey A. Barber May 20, 1950, in St. Mary Catholic Church with the Reverend Tim Downey officiating.  She died September 2, 2007.

Bob is survived by three daughters, Jan Marie (Glen deceased July 3, 2020) Lorenz of Edmond, Oklahoma, Crista Ann (Allen) Melancon of Seabrook, Texas, and Joan Catherine (William) Jaco of Houston, Texas; eight grandchildren, Kimberly (Jaime) Saleh, Erin (Loren) Bettles, Alexandria (Price) Blalock, Ariel Burley, Addison (Luke) Carlton, Zachery (Amanda) Burley, Joshua (Kristen) and Matthew (Elizabeth) Jaco; seven great grandchildren, Cayden and Cooper Saleh, Bradley and Audrey Bettles, Eli and Raegan Blalock, and Charlie Jaco; four sisters, Jean (Dan) Miller of Fremont, Clarann Wise, Mary Fran Young and Kathleen (Louis) Wise all of Tiffin; a Sister-in-law, Bernice Saam of Fremont; and 29 nieces and nephews, many cousins and his dear friend Joan Smith (deceased July 30, 2020) .

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, a brother, Louis F. Haefling, and two sons-in-law, Steven McLaughlin and Glen Lorenz.

Bob was a 1945 Calvert High School graduate where he was the Class President, Co-Captain of the football team and Captain of the basketball team. He attended St. Mary Catholic School, and Assumption College in Windsor, Ontario, Canada and graduated in 1950, with a B.A. degree from Western Ontario University.  He served in the United States Army during WWII mostly in the occupation of Japan.  He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and choir.  He retired from National Machinery after 37 years.  He was a supervisor of the Cost Department, a 3rd and 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and he was a Past Grand Knight of the 3rd degree and a Past Faithful Navigator of 4th Degree Bishop Schrembs.  He enjoyed golf, bowling and traveling.

A masked walk through visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday, September 13, 2020, at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio  44883 (419) 447-3113.  Visitors are asked to wear masks and social distance as they walk through, pay respects, and exit without lingering.
Prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. Monday, September 14, 2020, at the funeral home followed by the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church.  The Rosary will be recited 30 minutes prior to Mass. Rev. Matthew Rader will officiate.  Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery with military rites performed by the United Veteran’s Council of Seneca County.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, Calvert Catholic Schools or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
