Richard Edmund “Dick” Borer, 70, of Tiffin, died at 7:40 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2019, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.
Richard was born June 17, 1948, in Fostoria to Kenneth and Kay (Serr) Borer and his mother survives in Upper Sandusky. He married Elizabeth “Betty” Jane Carmody, April 29, 1978, in Lee Center, New York and she preceded him in death on September 3, 2017.
Survivors include his two daughters, Sarah Borer of Chicago, Ill. and Melissa Miskell of Lancaster, Oh.; three grandchildren, Autumn, Blake and Madalyn; his mother; a brother, David (Sara) Borer of Chevy Chase, Md.; three sisters, Linda (Larry) Schalk, of New Riegel, Ann (Lynn) Dunbar, of Upper Sandusky, and Theresa (Matt) Fisher of Findlay.
Richard was a 1966 graduate of St. Wendelin High School and received his Bachelor’s degree in 1971 from University of Toledo in Mechanical Engineering. He had worked as a Mechanical Engineer and Vice President for Pettibone, Inc. He later purchased OCECO, Inc. in Tiffin, in 1987 and owned and operated it until 2017. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Elks, Mohawk Golf Club, Ducks Unlimited, and a founding member of Sweeney Marsh, Port Clinton. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and hunter. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Visitation for family and friends will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2019, at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe St. Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113.
Prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2019, at the funeral home followed by the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Walters officiating. The rosary will be recited at the church 20 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Private entombment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery Columbarium.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, Calvert Catholic Schools or to the Seneca County Humane Society.
