Raymond D. Wagner, age 90 formerly of State Route 587, New Riegel, died at 12:15 P.M., Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at Ruffing Family Care Center, Tiffin, Ohio.
Raymond was born February 5, 1920 to the late Ross and Rose (Brickner) Wagner in New Riegel. He married Thelma V. Welter February 8, 1947 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin. She preceded him in death on June 2, 2001.
Survivors include four sons, David (Carol) Wagner of Tiffin, Dennis (Elaine) Wagner of Lancaster, OH, Peter (Violet) Wagner and Dan (Kathy) Wagner both of New Riegel; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ervin Wagner of New Riegel.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Francis, Morris, Elmer, William, and Robert Wagner; and two sisters, Esther Hark and Lenora Frankart.
Raymond graduated from New Riegel High School in 1938, and he was in the United States Army during World War II from 1942 until 1945. Raymond was a farmer and worked at the American Standard. He was a member of All Saints Parish, New Riegel and the New Riegel American Legion Post 354.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, December 2, 2010 with a combined wake service and American Legion service beginning at 7:45 p.m. at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 South Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio, 44883, 419-447-3113.
Prayers will be said at 8:15 a.m., Friday, December 3, 2010 at the funeral home followed by the funeral Mass at 9 a.m. at All Saints Parish, New Riegel with the Rev. Randy Geisige officiating. Burial will be immediately following at St. Boniface Cemetery, New Riegel with military rites conducted by the New Riegel American Legion. The Rosary will be recited in Church 20 minutes prior to Mass.
