Philip Edward Brickner

May 29, 1963 — April 20, 2024

Formerly of Tiffin

Philip E. Brickner, age 60, of Brookfield, Illinois, formerly of Tiffin, Ohio.
He was born May 29, 1963, and died April 20, 2024.  He was the beloved son of the late Kenneth and Marilyn (Lucius) Brickner.

Survivors of our dear brother include Daniel (Doris) Brickner, Theresa (Gregory) Roberts, Angela (Terry) Helmer, and Louis Brickner. He was also an uncle of many nieces and nephews and their children.
Phil graduated from Tiffin Calvert High School in 1981. He worked as a fruit, nut, and produce inspector in Fremont and Geneva, Ohio, and Nogales and Phoenix, Arizona. Eventually, Phil moved to the Chicago area, where he worked at USDA Agricultural Marketing Service, Specialty Crops Inspection Central Regional Office for 28 years, finishing his career as the Central Operations Assistant Branch Chief.

Phil experienced many adventures during his lifetime and loved traveling to all areas of the globe, including Hawaii, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Scotland, the United Kingdom, India, Japan, Newfoundland, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia in Canada. He also explored many of the US national and state parks, including hiking in the Rocky Mountains and climbing Mt. Shasta and Mt. Whitney in California. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed biking, hiking, canoeing, camping, and attending concerts with his friends. One of his favorite activities was the annual winter and summer campouts with his high school buddies, a tradition that has continued since their high school graduation.

Phil was a friend to all and was affectionately referred to as “Uncle Phil” by all his friends’ children and by his nieces and nephews. Most of all, he enjoyed his time with friends and family, and even though he had a busy work schedule, he always made the extra effort to attend special family events. He was loved by all and will be missed.
