Nicholas A. Heil, Jr. 87, of Tiffin died at 2:19 pm Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Mercy Tiffin Hospital, Tiffin.

He was born Feb. 8, 1927 in Tiffin to Nicholas and Mary (Tiell) Heil, Sr.  He married his first wife, LeVone Schwab, in 1948.  They divorced and she died May 31, 1993. He then married Betty Valentine, April 12, 1986 and she survives.

Survivors include two sons, Steven (Mary) Heil of Tiffin and Nicholas Todd (Heather) Heil of Forest, three step-daughters, Kimberly (Steve) Nedolast of Fostoria, Becky (Mike) Femeyer of Batesville, Ind., Dana Bentz of Tiffin; a step-son David Renninger of Tiffin;   17 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.


He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, a daughter, Rebecca Stetzy, a step son, Gary Renninger and a sister, Alice Hahler.

Nick served as seaman for the Merchant Marines from 1943-1946 during WWII.  He retired as a Die Test Engineer.

Visitation for family and friends will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2014 and 10-11 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio  44883 (419)447-3113.  The Quarter Century Club will meet at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be 11a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the funeral home.  Pastor Mark Brodbeck will officiate.  Burial will take place in Pleasant View Cemetery, Bloom Twp. following the service.  Military services will be performed by the Upper Sandusky Veteran's Color Guard at the grave site.

Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice Care in care of the funeral home.
