MYRON KENT DONCYSON

Myron Kent Doncyson, age 93, formerly of Township Road 1179, Tiffin, died at 7:42 a.m., June 26, 2009 at Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.

He was born on July 10, 1915, in Clyde, Ohio to the late Erwin and Elizabeth (Kinney) Doncyson. On September 2, 1936 in Tiffin, he married Margery J. Riehm, and she died November 24, 2001.

Myron is survived by four grandchildren; Todd (Julie) Doncyson of Delaware, Ohio, Shelly (Michael) Rex of Athens, Ohio, Anna (Robert) Busby of Redding, California, and Stephen (Melissa) Doncyson of Findlay, Ohio; nine great-grandchildren, Ryan Andrew Rex, Corey Michael Rex, Derek Michael Doncyson, Chara Jane Busby, Joshua Hawkins Busby, Jackson Kent Busby, Justin Gabriel Busby, Matthew Stephen Doncyson, Isabella Helena Doncyson; and a daughter-in-law, Marcia Magers Doncyson of Tiffin, and his best buddy and walking companion, his dog, Chaos.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of over 65 years, Margery; two sons, Michael Kent Doncyson, and Stephen Terry Doncyson; and a sister, Lucy Ruth Doncyson.

Myron was a 1933 Columbian High School graduate and a lifelong resident of Tiffin. He was a proud WWII veteran who served in the United States Navy from1943 to1945 as a medic in the Philippines, where he was nicknamed “Pappy” since he was nearly thirty years old when he was drafted.

Myron’s jobs included working at Myers Funeral Home, Tiffin Glass House and he then retired from General Electric in 1978 after 15 years of service. He was a member of the VFW of Green Springs, Post 6067.

Myron was the rock of his family. Through many tragedies, he remained strong for those around him. He was a dedicated family man who faithfully attended his grandchildren’s sporting and other events. He was easily spotted in the crowd with his smiling eyes and driving cap.

A graveside service will be at 1:30 pm Tuesday, June 30, 2009 in Fairmont Cemetery. The United Veteran’s Council of Seneca County will perform graveside rites.
