Michael was born April 5, 1944, in Tiffin, to Louis and Louise Gardner. Michael was the oldest of four children and is survived by his brother Richard (Debra) Gardner of Columbus, Ohio, and two sisters, Janet Gardner of Toledo and Julie Boner of Tiffin.
He married Sandra Lynne (Cooper) Gardner January 28, 1966, in Holland, Michigan, and she survives.
Other survivors include four children, Michelle (Todd Papes) Kaye of Cincinnati, Patricia (Chris) Malone of Tiffin, David (Annette) Gardner of Tiffin, and Seth Gardner of Sarasota, Florida; five grandchildren, Zechariah (Melissa) Cunningham, Chelsey Bunting, Logan Gardner, Alyssa Gardner, and Claire Gardner. He is also blessed with three great-granddaughters, Ellyse Cunningham, Madison Cunningham, and Everleigh Halcomb.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Benjamin Cunningham.
Michael was a 1962 graduate of Calvert High School. He went on to become a successful Chiropractor, graduating from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1966. Michael retired from his chiropractic practice in March of 2014 after 48 years. He truly loved his job and all of his patients and never “worked” a day in his life.
He had a love of boats, and he and his family spent many weekends on his boat, the “Sea Breeze”, on Lake Erie. This love of boating gave way to becoming a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary on Lake Erie for many years. Being on the water, on a boat, was one of the things he loved most. After he retired, he became a HAM radio operator and found many friends through his HAMM radio connections. Michael also served on the board of Legacy Credit Union. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Tiffin Kiwanis Club.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 3, 2022, with services at 1:00 p.m. at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113.
