Martha Jane Swinnerton, age 93, of Riverlea Park, Tiffin, Ohio died at 2:00 am Wednesday, June 3, 2009 in the Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center, Tiffin, with relatives and friends by her side.
She was born October 17, 1915 in Tiffin, Ohio to the late Arthur and Zita (Bour) Powell. On October 1, 1938 she married Arnold R. “A.R.” Swinnerton in Old Trinity Episcopal Church, Tiffin. He died May 20, 2008.
Mrs. Swinnerton is survived by two sons, Eugene Swinnerton of Bloomfield Hills, MI and Daniel Swinnerton of Brooklyn, OH; numerous nieces and nephews, including Diane (Ferrall) Dagg of Clyde, OH.
She is preceded in death by a sister, Alice Marie (Bour) Ferrall.
Mrs. Swinnerton was a 1933 Tiffin Columbian High School graduate and attended Heidelberg College and Tiffin Business College each for one year. She was employed by the American Standard Co. for three years where she met her future husband, Arnold. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for more than 50 years. She was a wife and mother to her husband and two sons.
Visitation with the family will be from 1-3 pm Monday, June 8, 2009 at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 South Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio, 44883 (419) 447-3113.
The Funeral will be at 3 pm Monday at Traunero Funeral Home with Rev. David Good officiating.
Burial is immediately following in Greenlawn Cemetery.
