Lowell Bennett Howard, 88, of Tiffin, died at 8:43 p.m., Thursday, April 18, 2013, at St. Francis Home, Tiffin.

Lowell was born February 12, 1925 in New Boston, Ohio, eldest son of the late James Arland and Imogene (Sullivan) Howard.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Jeanetta (Turner) Howard who he married June 16, 1947 at New Boston Methodist Church; and by their children, Lowell Bennett (Christine) Howard Jr. of Powell, Brent Turner (Susan) Howard of Tiffin, and Rebecca Ann Spainhoward of Grandview Heights; by his grandchildren, Lowell Bennett III and Geoffrey Hamilton Briggs Howard; Andrew Turner, Samuel Hering and Natalie Lenton Howard; and Jackson Turner Spainhoward.  Also surviving are a brother Robert (Patricia) Howard of Knoxville, Tennessee and a sister Mary Lois (Charles) Strickland of Dobson, North Carolina.

Howard's career included that of lawyer, educator, writer and judge.  He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.  He earned a B.A. degree from Bowling Green State University, and M.A., J.D. and Ph.D. degrees from The Ohio State University.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no visitation or funeral.  Burial will be in Memorial Burial Park, Wheelersburg, Ohio.  A family memorial service will be held later.
