Lawrence Joseph Miletti, age 90 of Tiffin, died at 9 p.m., Thursday, November 17, 2011 at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center, Tiffin.

He was born to the late Michael and Alphonsine (Honore) Miletti on September 15, 1921 in Tiffin.  Larry married Virginia Boehler on October 31, 1945 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, and she survives in Tiffin.

Larry is survived by four daughters, Carol (Bill) Rall, of Crestline, Janet (Robb) Harst, of Huron, Jane (Steve) Distel, of Tiffin and Christine (Terry) Gawlik of San Antonio, Texas; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul (Georgene) Miletti; two sisters Joann (Wayne) Moore and Patricia (Carl) Kern all of Tiffin.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Eileen Ardner.

Larry was a graduate of Calvert High School.  Then he served in the United States Army during WWII, serving in the Pacific, from which he received the Bronze Star and the Victory Ribbon.  Larry owned and operated Larry’s Shoes in Tiffin for many years.  He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree and the Moose Lodge.

Family and friends may call from 2 -4 and 6- 8 pm, Sunday, November 20, 2011 at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 South Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, 419-447-3113.   There will be a wake at 1:45 pm and the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree will stand Honor Guard from 6-8 pm.

Prayers will be said at 12:30 pm, Monday, November 21, 2011 at the funeral home followed by the funeral Mass at 1 pm at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Gary Walters officiating.  Burial will be immediately following in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery with the United Veteran’s Council performing military rites at the graveside.  The rosary will be recited 20 minutes prior to the funeral Mass.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or the Stein Hospice.
