He was born January 25, 1949 in Dover, Ohio to Andrew L. and Betty L. (Moore) Shanabrook. He married Beth Ann Baird,40 years ago, August 18, 1973 in Chippewa Lake, Ohio and she survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Lorena A. Shanabrook of Columbia, S.C. and a sister, Andrea (Larry) Lloyd of Dover. He is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Bill (Twyla) Baird of Tyler, Texas, a sister-in-law, Nancy Baird of Topeka, Kan. plus nieces, nephews and cousins.
Larry was a 1967 New Philadelphia High School graduate, and attended Kent State University for 4 years. He had retired from Whirlpool Corp. in Clyde and prior to that he had worked at Heidelberg University, National Machinery and Traunero Funeral Home. He was a member of Fremont Alliance Church. He had been the basketball manager at New Philadelphia High School, the football manager at Kent State University and statistician for the girls basketball team at Columbian High School. He served for 13 years as an usher at Ohio State University football games, and from 1983-1984 he lived in Ecuador doing missionary work.

Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 5, 2013 at the Fremont Alliance Church 436 N. Brush St. Fremont, Ohio 43420 with Pastor Glenn Merrill officiating with a luncheon following.
Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, September 6, at Evergreen Burial Park, New Philadelphia, with a luncheon following the committal.
