He was born Dec 25, 1945 in Tiffin to Bernard J. and Alice E. (Boner) Distel. He married Margaret “Peg” Elchert, Nov. 26, 1966 in St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin. She survives.
Other survivors include, two sons, Jim (Lori) Distel of Tiffin, Joe (Jen) Distel of Avon Lake, Oh; two daughters, Chris (Sean) Joyce of Tiffin and Carrie (Justin) Stiltner of Green Springs; five grandchildren, Austin Distel, Hailee Distel, Spencer Distel, Maggie Joyce, and Mollie Joyce; three brothers, Dave “Whitey” (Char) Distel, Tiffin, Tom (Deanna) Distel, and Jerry (Blondie) Distel, a sister, Pat (Harry) Lucius; and his mother-in-law, Ellen Elchert all of Tiffin.
Kenneth was a 1964 Calvert High School graduate. He retired from Whirlpool Corporation, Clyde. He also worked as a meat cutter at Distel’s Meats and he currently delivered flowers for Rodgers flowers. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Moose Lodge, Eagles and the Cushman Club. He enjoyed fishing, auto racing, giving of himself and helping others, he loved his grandchildren and dogs deeply.
Visitation with family and friends will be 3-7 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2012 at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113. A wake service will be at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
The funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at St. Mary Catholic Church, officiated by Rev. Gary Walters. The Rosary will be recited 20 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will be in Seneca Memory Gardens at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice Care, Seneca County Humane Society or to Calvert Catholic Schools in care of the funeral home.
