Kathryn Rose Kuebler, 89, of Tiffin, Ohio died peacefully Thursday, May 20, 2010 at her home.

Born in Tiffin on December 24, 1920, Kathryn was the daughter of the late Albert Kuebler and Olivia (Burger) Kuebler, both of Tiffin. Kathryn’s father was the fourth generation owner of the former Kuebler-Burger Shoes on South Washington Street, now Kuebler Shoes at West Market Street.

Kathryn graduated from St. Joseph School in Tiffin and was in the Class of 1939 at Calvert High School. Kathryn attended Marygrove College in Detroit where she earned a Bachelor of Philosophy degree with a major in economics in 1943.

During high school, Kathryn worked at Kuebler-Burger Shoes with her brothers and sister. After college, Kathryn returned to Tiffin to work at the former First National Bank of Tiffin as a teller. During her 45 years in the banking industry, Kathryn held various positions with BancOhio National Bank. She was head of operations-Tiffin branches, assistant vice-president and vice president with National City Bank, now PNC Bank. Kathryn retired from National City Bank on Dec. 16, 1989.

Kathryn was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and sang in the church choir. She was a former member of the Legion of Mary.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, John L. and Paul R. Kuebler and one sister, Mary T. Byrnes. Kathryn is survived by her nieces and nephews, Patricia Byrnes of Tiffin, Philip (Carol) Kuebler, Viki (Jim) Meek, Robin (Liam) O’Callaghan, Paul (Maureen) Kuebler, Jr., Walter Kuebler, Barbara (Ken) Byrnes-Lenarcic, Judy (Dennis) Byrnes-Leduc, Sharon (Brad) Byrnes Mixner. Kathryn also has several great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, May 23, 2010 with a wake service at 7:45 p.m. at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 South Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883, 419-447-3113.

Prayers will be said at 10 a.m., Monday, May 24, 2010 at the funeral home, followed by the funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. The rosary will be recited 20 minutes prior to the Mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
