She was born March 5, 1952, in Tiffin, to Laurence E. and Frances A. (Ryon) Bishop. She married John P. Kern April 20, 1974, at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Tiffin. They were married for 40 years, and he survives.
Other survivors include a son, David W. (Tami) Kern of Tiffin; a daughter, Amy S. Kern of Columbus; two grandchildren, William T. Kern and Garritt A. Prenzlin; a brother, Edwin L. (Diane) Bishop of Westerville; and two sisters, Carolyn Tucker of Sarasota, Fla. and Bonnie M. (Roy) Mayeux of Las Vegas, Nev.
She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, John A. Bishop and Donald E. Bishop.
Julie was a 1970 Columbian High School graduate and a graduate of Sandusky School of Nursing. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse and a Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician. She retired in 1992 from Mercy Tiffin Hospital after 20 years of service.
Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113.
Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Jeff Lanzer. Burial will follow in Fairwell-Retreat Cemetery, Republic.
Memorial contributions may be made to Autumnwood Care Center or to a charity of the donor's choice in care of the funeral home.
