Joe was born October 25, 1957 in Fostoria, to Gerald William and Imelda M. (Brickner) Scherger.
He is survived by two sons, Thomas and Kevin Scherger of Tiffin; a daughter, Alysia Scherger of Tiffin; a brother Gary Scherger of Findlay; and two sisters, Sandra McCarty of Bloomdale and Sharon Frisch of Fostoria.
Joseph was a graduate of Lakota High School. He worked at Continental Structural Plastic in Carey, was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the United Auto Workers.
Visitation for family and friends will be 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Friday, August 23, 2013 at the Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, OH 44883, 419-447-3113. A wake service will be at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2013 at the funeral home with the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. The Rosary will be recited 20 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice in care of the funeral home.
