J. Samuel Walker, age 96, of St. Francis Home., Tiffin, died at 10:27 pm Thursday, December 3, 2009, at St. Francis Home.

He was born April 14, 1913, in Fairfield, Illinois, to the late F. Arthur and Emma (Williamson) Walker. He married Margaret Pfizenmayer, on June 16, 1937, in Terre Haute, Indiana, and she died February 27, 2006.

Survivors include a son, John S. (Lisa) Walker, Jr. of Tiffin; two grandchildren, Sean (Tana) Walker and Seth (Michelle) Walker; four great grandchildren, Logan and Claire Walker, Candace Vance and Charlotte Cenkus.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.

Samuel served in the US Navy during World War II and retired as the Director of Merchandising at Harts/Big Bear Stores for 30 years in Columbus. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Third and Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, and the Senior Golf League at Seneca Hills Golf Club. Sam was a good and honest man who loved his wife and family and a great game of golf.

Visitation will be from 3-5 PM, Sunday, December 6, 2009 at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419)447-31113. The Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Honor Guard will stand honor during visitation. The Funeral Mass will be at 11:30 AM, Monday, December 7, 2009 at St. Francis Home Chapel with the Rev. Frank Murd officiating. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the funeral at St. Francis Home Chapel. Burial will follow immediately in St. Joseph Cemetery. The United Veteran’s Council of Seneca County will perform military rites at the cemetery
