Joan was born October 20, 1927 in Tiffin to the late Henry and Mabel (Blott) Kuhn. She married Joseph T. “Lefty” Walter, Jr. May 30, 1945 in St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin. He preceded her in death October 22, 1995.
Joan is survived by three sons, John (Julie) Walter, Tom (Pat) Walter, and Gerald Walter, all of Tiffin; two daughters, Margaret “Peg” (Joseph) Lynch of Tiffin, and Susan (Donald) Caudill of Bascom; 13 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, James Todd Walter; a great-granddaughter, Maria Christina Alvarado; two brothers, Nicholas and John Kuhn; and two sisters, Mary (Paul) Sorg and Marcella (Robert) Kerkhoff.
Joan was a 1945 Tiffin Calvert High School graduate. She had worked at Ex-Cell-O Wire and was a homemaker. Joan was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Liberty Township and the Rosary Altar Society. Her proudest accomplishments were her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, especially her oldest son, John, who she lived to see ordained a deacon this past year.
Visitation with the family will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2012 at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113, and 9:30 -10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Liberty Township. A wake service will be 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
A Mass of Resurrection will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2012 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church officiated by Rev. Timothy Kummerer. Burial will take place immediately following in the parish cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice Care, St. Patrick’s and Andrew’s Catholic Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
