Joan Elaine (MacDonald) Perry, 93, passed away peacefully, June 25, 2026, at her daughter’s home in New Riegel, Ohio, surrounded by her family. She was born May 26, 1933, in Toledo, Ohio, to Elgen C. “Red” and Mildred (Brattz) MacDonald. She married Richard “Dick” E. Perry, November 24, 1951, in Toledo. He died April 5, 2023. Joan spent her final 10 years living comfortably with her daughters. She had a strong faith and was a dedicated member of Family of Faith Lutheran Church in Tiffin.

Survivors include four children, Thomas R. (Cheryl) Perry of Rindge, Massachusetts, Lynn (Lenny) Clouse of New Riegel, Ohio, James R. (Ann) Perry of Merrimack, New Hampshire, and Julie S. (Gary) Kinnear of Pickerington, Ohio; She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Though deeply missed, Joan's love and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 71 years, and a brother, James E. MacDonald.

After 16 years in Toledo, they moved to Old Fort, Ohio, to raise their family and later resided in Tiffin, Ohio.

Joan was a 1951 graduate of Toledo Waite High School. She was a homemaker, a member of Family of Faith Lutheran Church and the Red Hat Society. Joan cherished time with her family, especially during vacations and holidays. She enjoyed boating with her husband on Lake Erie and was rarely without the company of her beloved dogs. An avid sports fan, she loved watching competitions, particularly those involving her family. Joan was also known for her outgoing personality, her love of conversation, and her spirited nature—often described as a red-headed "firecracker." In her free time, she enjoyed playing cards and board games, and especially loved visiting casinos to play the slot machines.
