Tiffin

Jeanne Eileen Gnepper, 95, of Tiffin, died at 3:30 pm Thursday, May 25, 2023, at The Willows at Tiffin.

Jeanne was born December 5, 1927, in Lindsey, Ohio, to Walter and Marie (Riedel) Magsig. She was raised on a farm near Lindsey by her father and stepmother, Gladys Smith Magsig. On March 27, 1948, she married Dwight L Gnepper of Elmore, Ohio, who she met while attending Bethel United Brethren Church. They enjoyed 72 years of marriage until Dwight preceded her in death on March 23, 2020.

Survivors include two daughters, Kay (Mike) Yeagle of Fremont, Kim (Brad) Newman of Tiffin; four grandchildren, Todd (Lori) Yeagle, Tonya (Nathan) Craft, Danielle (Eric) Willman, Andrew (Colleen) Newman; and eleven great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Evalyn Moore of Oak Harbor, and a brother-in-law, Paul Gnepper of Port Clinton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, stepmother, three brothers, Royce Magsig, Dwight Magsig, and Burton Magsig, a sister, Kathleen Magsig, and stepsister, Betty Carnicom.

Jeanne was a 1945 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. After marrying Dwight, she spent the first 15 years of marriage raising their family and helping Dwight with farming outside of Elmore. In the early 1960s, Jeanne worked for Blair Miller Insurance and Realty. In the mid-1960s, she and Dwight founded Tiffin Aire, Inc. at the Seneca County Airport. While Dwight taught pilots to fly and ran an air charter service, Jeanne ran the airport office for their growing operation. Both Jeanne and her husband enjoyed collecting classic cars and attending car shows. She was especially fond of her 1982 Mercedes convertible. They both enjoyed winter months at their home on Pine Island, Florida. Because of her time spent in Florida, Jeanne came to like flamingos and will be remembered as the Flamingo Lady. Her great-grandchildren enjoyed supplying GG with many flamingos that entertained her.

Jeanne was a good cook and especially a delicious chocolate chip cookie baker.  Family, friends, and neighbors enjoyed the fruits of her labor. Family meant everything to Jeanne, as she loved her whole family dearly. In her later years, she especially looked forward to visits from her grand and great-grandchildren. They brought her so much joy. Jeanne was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Tiffin.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of The Willows of Tiffin for the love and exceptional care Jeanne received. Private funeral services will take place with burial at Greenlawn Cemetery in Tiffin. Due to Covid in 2020, Dwight will be honored with military rites by the Seneca County United Veteran’s Council.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe St, Tiffin, Ohio 44883.

Memorial contributions may be made in Jeanne’s name to Heidelberg University, Attn: University Advancement, 310 E Market St, Tiffin, Ohio; or CASA of Seneca, Sandusky, and Wyandot Counties, 21 Court St, Tiffin, Ohio 44883.
