Janet Mae Sellers, 92, of Tiffin, Ohio, passed away peacefully at 3:24 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2026, at The Courtyard of Tiffin. She was born February 11, 1934, in Fremont, Ohio, to W. Frank and Mildred (Clark) Mathews. She married Robert A. Sellers on March 10, 1956, in Fremont, Ohio. He died on April 10, 2001.
Survivors include two daughters, Denice (Ugo) Baldetti of Bellevue, Ohio and Leslie (Steve) Smith of Republic, Ohio. Janet leaves behind 9 grandchildren; Nicholas Baldetti, Stephn Baldetti, Audrey Klenklen, Rachel Pruessner, Douglas Fox, Abigail (Fox) Gerber, Logan Smith, Colleen Smith, Olivia (Smith) Wilson, 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marcia Grumme of Boulder Creek, California. Janet’s strong faith, gentle spirit and beautiful, vibrant smile will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, a son, Gary Sellers, a daughter, Camilla (Sellers) Fox, and a brother, Richard Mathews.
She was a 1952 graduate of Fremont Ross High School in Fremont, Ohio and a member of Family of Faith Lutheran Church in Tiffin. Janet worked at the Sandusky County Auditor’s Office prior to her marriage, then worked as a teacher’s aide at Washington Elementary School in Tiffin. She was also a talented seamstress and created beautiful sewing projects and alterations. As a homemaker, Janet was always busy with her family, yet found time to volunteer for her church. She was in a quilting group, reading club, and assisted with church luncheons. She enjoyed family camping and vacation trips, attending lots of school activities, flower gardening, reading, doing jigsaw puzzles, and collecting salt dips. In her younger days, she loved to dance and swing with her husband, Robert, to Big Band tunes.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Family of Faith Lutheran Church, 170 West Davis Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Rev. Phillip Moerdyk. A private burial will be in Green Springs Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Family of Faith Lutheran Church, Heartland Hospice or the Tiffin-Seneca Public Library.
