James E. Schnarrenberger 94, of Tiffin, died at 12:49 pm Thursday, July 24, 2014, at his residence.

James was born May 11, 1920, in Crawford County to Edward F. and Delverta (Schafer) Schnarrenberger.  He married Lois I. Lust May 4, 1947, in Bucyrus. Lois died January 5, 2006.

Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Schmidt of Virginia Beach, Va. and Jill (Bill) Ranelle of Ft. Worth, Tex.; five grandchildren, Nichole Payne, Erika Schaffer, Woody Schmidt, Katie Schmidt, Hank Schmidt; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald Schnarrenberger of Bucyrus; and a sister, Berneice Landis of Bucyrus.

James was preceded in death by his parents, and wife.

James was a 1938 graduate of Sulphur Springs, Crawford County. He served in the U.S. Army as a Technical Sergeant from 1941 to 1945. He retired in 1985 as parts manager with Tiffin Motors where he had been since 1954. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, American Legion, and the Eagles and he volunteered at Mercy Hospital. Jim was a kind and thoughtful man who loved to visit with his friends on the St. Francis Campus.

Visitation will be 9:30 am Monday, July 28, 2014, at the First Lutheran Church with Funeral Services beginning at 10:30 am with the Rev. Kenneth Gillikin officiating.  Graveside services will be 10 am Saturday, October 4, 2014, in Fairmont Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the United Veterans Council of Seneca County.
