Herman A. Ward, 88, of Tiffin, Ohio died at 12:32 p.m. Monday, Sept 3, 2012 at Mercy Tiffin Hospital Emergency Room.

He was born March 11, 1924 to Evart and Clara (Bouillon) Ward in Seneca County.  He married Evelyn M. Daugherty-Payne, Nov. 29, 1947 in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria.  She died May 7, 2003.

Survivors include, two sons, Richard (Shirley) Ward of Fostoria and Charles (Mary Ann) Payne of Tiffin; four daughters, Peg (Jerry) Baker of Tiffin; Pat (Steve) Shilling, Cindy Frantz both of Vanlue; and Shirley (Clarence) Athy of Attica; 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, a great great grandson; a brother, Anthony (Ann) Ward of Fostoria; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Reinhart and Alice Ward; a son-in-law, Harry Aichholz; a granddaughter, Heidi Shilling and a great grandson, Devin Shilling.

Herman was a 1942 Hopewell-Loudon High School graduate.  He served in the United States Navy from 1943 until 1946 during WWII as an Aviation Metalsmith.  He retired as a machinist from National Machinery after 37 years of service.  He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, and the Quarter Century Club.

Herman was a loving husband and father.  He enjoyed his family and loved playing cards.

Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept 6, 2012 at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113.  A wake service will be 1:30 pm Thursday and the Quarter Century Club will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Sept 7, 2012 at the funeral home. The funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Gary Walters officiating.  Burial will take place immediately following in St. Mary Cemetery.  The United Veterans Council of Seneca County will perform military rites at the gravesite.

Memorial contributions may be made to F.A.C.T. or to St. Mary Catholic Church in care of the funeral home.
