Henry Robert Droll, 87, of Tiffin, died at 5:41 pm Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at St. Francis Home.
He was born December 12, 1928, to Leo and Hilda (Arend) Droll, at CR 18, in Loudon Twp., Fostoria.
Mr. Droll attended the Fruth one room school house District #8, and then attended Hopewell-Loudon High School, Bascom, Ohio. He also attended a two year correspondence program at Commercial Trades Institute, Chicago.
On May 1, 1954, he married Marian Alice Siesel at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monroeville, Ohio. She survives in Tiffin.
Also surviving are two sons, Richard H. Droll and Lynn Kaffine of Colorado Springs, Colo., Kenneth R. Droll and Arlene Jablonski of Watauga, Tenn.; two daughters, Karen M. (Don) Price of McCutchenville, and LaVon A. Droll of Tiffin; six granddaughters, Christina (Charles) Butcher, Kristin (Brian) Wimmer, both of Colorado Springs, Sharon Price-Stover of McCutchenville, Nancy Price of Tiffin, Beth (Cody) Hones of Vandalia, Bonnie (Marcos) Lucero of Jacksonville, Fla., three great granddaughters, Lilli’ana Martinez, Taiyah Mooney, both of Colorado Springs, and Jasmine Miller of McCutchenville, two great grandsons, Dominic Stover of McCutchenville, and Gage Hones of Vandalia; five siblings, Patricia (Paul) Wolph of Fostoria, Barbara (Richard) Frankforther of Bascom, John (Susan) Droll of Fostoria, Wilma (Gerald) Klopp of Tiffin, and Velma (Harold) Nye of Alvada.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Bernard and Maurice Droll, and a sister, Virginia Holman-Fredritz.
Mr. Droll was a farmer and retired as a machinist/maintenance man at General Electric of Tiffin, after 33 years. He was a volunteer fireman for the G.E. Fire Department for 30 years. He was also a self-employed radio and television repairman. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Tiffin. He was an avid camper, a collector of hit and miss engines, and traveled extensively around the U.S. visiting all 50 states. He also traveled throughout Canada, Mexico, Europe, and Asia.
Visitation will be at Sunday, February 14, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm, Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419)447-3113. A Wake service will be 1:30 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
Prayers will be said at 9:30 am Monday, February 15, at the funeral home, followed by the funeral Mass at 10 am, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited in church 20 minutes prior to Mass.
