Gladys attended New Riegel High School. Being a woman of strong faith Gladys was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin, the Rosary Altar Society, St. Francis Auxiliary, and a former member of the funeral choir. She loved singing and even after several years when she was no longer able to climb the stairs leading to the choir loft due to severe spinal arthritis, she would sit downstairs in the back of the church and still sing when the choir was needed. After being widowed at the age of 48 she went to work at Ballreich’s Potato Chip factory where she made many lifelong friends. In her spare time, she loved to bake and gave many of her baked goods away to family, neighbors, and friends. She also enjoyed gardening and took great pride in tending her flowers. One of her greatest accomplishments, however, was writing a book, entitled “One Day At A Time.” This was a book for her children explaining her life with their Dad and all the adventures associated with raising their family. This was a two-year project to completion and is a definite family treasure.
Visitation for family and friends will be Saturday, October 16, 2021, from 10 to 11 am, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin, where funeral Mass will begin at 11 am Saturday. Rev. Matthew Rader will officiate, and burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
