GILBERT FRANCIS LUCIUS

Gilbert Francis “Gil” Lucius, age 79 of Tiffin, Ohio died at 12:17 pm, Sunday, June 28, 2009 at his home with his loving wife of 59 years and their daughter by his side. Gil was born on February 13, 1930 in Marion, Ohio to the late Gilbert H. and Dorothy (Ryman) Lucius. On June 10, 1950 he married Marie B. Unterwagner in St. Joseph Catholic Church, and she survives.

Also surviving is a daughter, Debra Ann Lucius of Tiffin; a sister, Joyce Bremyer of Port Clinton; and a brother, Michael Lucius of Minnesota.

He is preceded in death by a sister, Karen Huffman.

Gil was a 1948 Calvert High School graduate. He attended both electrical and refrigeration trade schools. Gil retired from EPCO in Fremont, Ohio where he had worked as a field service engineer. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin and he was a lifetime member of the Elks. Gil had many interests. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, woodworking, landscaping and traveling, especially his trips to Alaska.


Visitation with family and friends will be from 4-7 pm Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 419 447-3113. There will be a Wake service at 4 pm at the funeral home.

Prayers will be said at the funeral home at 9:30 am and then followed by a celebration of Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. The Rosary will be recited 20 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to F.A.C.T., Heartland Hospice, The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research or to St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Special thanks to Heartland Hospice for all their care and compassion; they were just like family. And to Father Joseph Szybka for his help in our time of need.
