GERALD HERMAN YOST

Gerald Herman Yost, age 81, of Tiffin, Ohio, died November 1, 2003. He was born March 9, 1922, in Fostoria, Ohio, to Ignatius I. and Veronica H. (Mangett) Yost. On January 20, 1943, he married Lillian M. Walliser, who died August 30, 1974. On October 11, 1975, he married Julia Eaton, who survives.
Also surviving are 2 daughters, Jeanette M. Overmyer and Carolyn M. (Howard) Mathias; 2 step-sons, Thomas L. Eaton and Robert Eaton; 3 grandchildren, Neil & Daniel Overmyer and Christopher Mathias; 43 step-grandchildren; and a sister, Rita Knaup. He was preceded in death by 2 step-sons, John & David Eaton; a step-grandson, Timothy Storeholder; 4 brothers, Marcus, Cletus, Leonard, & Eugene Yost; and 4 sisters, Gertrude Clouse, Lenora Yost, Mary Elizabeth Hess, and Isabelle Helle.
Mr. Yost retired in 1985 after 39 years as a machinist and maintenance supervisor at General Electric Company in Tiffin. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Eagles, VFW, Moose, and enjoyed bowling. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, with military rites by the United Veterans Council. Memorials may be made to the church for Masses, the American Heart Association, or to the donor’s choice.
