Genevieve M. "Gen" Alt, 94, of Tiffin, died at 4:45 p.m. Thursday, January 24, 2013 at St. Francis Home, Tiffin.

She was born November 3, 1918 in Ottoville, Ohio to Henry and Matilda (Kehres) Grubenhoff.  She married Joseph A. Alt June 22, 1940 in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville.  He died  June 13, 1989.

Survivors include, 3 sons, James (Karin) Alt of  Rockford, Ill., Robert (Karen) Alt of Sun Prairie, Wis., Timothy (Laura) Alt of Carey; a daughter, Debra (Mark) Coad of Cincinnati; eight grandchildren, Andy, Greg, Angie, Chris, Brandon, Sarah, Sammy Jo, and Jamie; six great grandchildren, Megan, Marti, Aiden, Justin, Kayla, and Katie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Patricia Meyers; six brothers and a sister.

Gen was an Ottoville High School graduate.  She was a retired seamstress, she worked for Singer Sewing Machine Company for 18 years.  She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, its Rosary Altar Society, Daughters of Isabella, St. Francis Auxiliary and she volunteered at Calvert High School, St. Francis Home, and St. Mary Catholic Church.  She was a hardworking loving wife and mother.

Visitation with family and friends will be 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Friday, February 1, 2013 at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe St. Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113.  A wake service will be at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Prayers will be said at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the funeral home followed by the Mass at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church.  The Rev. Gary Walters will officiate.  The Rosary will be recited 20 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will take place immediately following in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church and St. Francis Home in care of the funeral home.
