Dr. Anne M. Hummer, PhD

Dr. Anne M. Warnement Hummer, PhD, 82, died July 1, 2026, at her home in Monroe, MI with her husband by her side.

Anne was the 3rd daughter born to Elmer and Helen Warnement in Tiffin, OH, September 4, 1943. She was followed by four sisters and finally the family’s baby brother. She attended St. Joseph grade school and Calvert High School in Tiffin. Her unexpected death will be felt by all family members, as Anne always stepped in whenever family members needed help.

She is survived by her husband, Tom; three sisters, Judy Bour of Tiffin, Alice Kosnikowski of Sylvania, OH, and Ruth Rahla of Toledo; and a brother, John (Sue) Warnement of Tiffin.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Jane Hartsig, Mary Bell and Kay Zilka.

Anne met and married the love of her life, Thomas, in 1966, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin. They spent over 60 wonderful years together. She was awarded her RN degree from Mercy School of Nursing, Toledo, OH; a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Lourdes College in, Toledo, OH; a master’s degree in Health Education, and a PhD in Curriculum Development from the University of Toledo.

She started her career as an Instructor at Mercy School of Nursing; taught part-time for Monroe County Community College (Michigan) as well as Lourdes and finished her 35-year career as an Assistant Professor of Nursing at the University of Detroit Mercy. While at Detroit Mercy, she was invited to be a “site visitor” to help accredit nursing programs and traveled to other campuses to complete the assessments.

The last 27 years of her life, she was able to enjoy her true passion with her husband – antiques and collectibles. You would always find her first in line at church rummage sales and at garage sales in the Michigan and Ohio area. Her company, Back in Time, Inc., had various locations in Antique malls during this time.

There will be no visitation.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 23, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, OH. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Tiffin, with rites by the Lake Erie Nurses Honor Guard. TRAUNERO FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 214 S.
