Our radiant, high-spirited, independent Dolores A. Rider danced her way into heaven on Monday, May 9, 2022 at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.
She was born on October 2, 1933, in Tiffin, to Herbert and Mabel (Ridley) Clouse, and they preceded her in death.
She married Urban Steinmetz, Jr., and he passed away suddenly. They had two sons together, Gary and Tom. She later married Eugene Rider, and they shared almost ten years together until his sudden passing also. He adopted the two boys, and then together they had two daughters, Lisa and Kathy.
Surviving are her older brother, David Clouse of Indianapolis, her four children Gary (Mary) Rider of Tiffin, Tom Rider of Findlay, Lisa (Jim) Taylor of Cincinnati, and Kathy (Greg) Frederick of North Carolina, and several in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Also surviving are Maw Maw's twelve grandchildren, Christina, Nick, Jake, Jean, Zach, Aaron, Curt, Emily, Allie, Eric, Mitch and Nathan, and nine great grandchildren whom she loved dearly and whose visits and phone calls she enjoyed. She was especially thankful for her special helper, Joanne, who made these last six months so much easier for her.
Dolores was a 1951graduate of Calvert High School. She enjoyed when her group of classmates got together for lunch and reminisced. Dolores was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and sang many years in the funeral choir. She volunteered around the community for many years at the Sharing Kitchen, Habitat for Humanity, and Hospice. She donated over eighteen gallons of blood, and gave to numerous organizations to help others around the world.
Most dear to her heart was Momma Kitty and all her past pets, stray cats, and any creature she met along her way while bike riding or walking. Her love for animals was apparent to anyone who knew her.
She had a lifetime of travel experiences with her brother and friends to many destinations, including Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Hawaii, California, Mexico, Florida, North Carolina and the Caribbean.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am Friday, May 13, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 am Friday, prior to Mass, at the church. A rosary will be recited 30 minutes prior to the Mass. A private burial will be at a later date, as Dolores donated her body to science at the University of Toledo Medical Center.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Seneca County or St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin (419)447-3113. Online condolences may be sent to www.traunerofuneralhome.com.
