Dean E. Vogel, Sr., age 67, of rural Republic, died at 7:15 pm Thursday, March 18, 2010, at his residence. He was born May 18, 1942 in Sycamore, Ohio to the late Clarence and Beulah (Harter) Vogel. He married Barbara Wurm January 11, 1969 in St. Stephens Catholic Church and she survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Dean Vogel, Jr. of Bascom and Duane (Jane) Vogel of Attica; a daughter, Tami Staib of Tiffin; four grandchildren, Denver, Carson, Chloe and Dillon.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Sharon.
Dean was a graduate of Attica High School. He served in the United States Air Force from 1964- 1968. He was a self-employed farmer, raising beef cattle. Dean also operated the U-Haul Dealership at Rock Run Bulk Foods in Tiffin. He was a strong advocate of the Harvest of Hope (F.A.C.T. fundraiser). He was a member of the Ohio Cattlemen’s Association and the Farm Bureau. Formerly he served on the Attica Fair Board and was a 30 year 4-H advisor.
Dean loved to attend auctions and he enjoyed spending time outdoors on his farm with his grandchildren and family.
Visitation with the family will be from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Sunday, March 21, 2010 and 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 22 at Traunero Funeral Home 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at Grace Baptist Church, Tiffin with Pastor Jerry Boylan officiating. The United Veterans Council of Seneca County will perform military rites at the church.
Contributions may be made to Harvest of Hope or to a charity of the donor’s choice in care of Traunero Funeral Home.
