David H. Scheiber, 83, of Wilmington, Delaware, formerly of Tiffin, died peacefully Thursday, December 18, 2014, at Manor Care, Wilmington.
Dave was born August 16, 1931, in Cleveland, Ohio, the only child to Herman and Dorothy Scheiber. He married Virginia Ann Dietsch September 8, 1956, at Notre Dame.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Virginia; five children, Kathleen (Jack) Hart of Cincinnati; Suzanne (Jim) Nawrocki of Texas; Mary (Mark) Oliphant of Chicago; Stephen Scheiber of Texas; and David (Carolyn) Scheiber of California.; 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Dave graduated from Calvert High School in 1949. Dave earned his BS and PHD degrees in Chemistry, both from the University of Notre Dame in 1953 and 1956, respectively.
He retired in 1990 after 34 years as a scientist with DuPont Co. in Wilmington, Delaware. Dave enjoyed photography, reading, history, all things chemistry and was quick with a joke.
Visitation for family and friends will be 2-4 & 6-8 pm Friday, December 26, 2014, at the Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio, 44883, (419)447-3113.
A wake service will be at 7 pm Friday at the funeral home.
The funeral Mass will be at noon Saturday, December 27, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Calvert High School, or to the Knights of Columbus, in care of the funeral home.
