CLARENCE VICTOR MITTEN

Clarence V. Mitten, age 88, formerly of W. Meadowbrook, Tiffin, Ohio died at 5:55 pm, Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at St. Francis Home, Tiffin. He was born on April 9, 1921 in Wyandot County to the late Gilbert and Ida (Kirian) Mitten. On May 10, 1947 he married Jeanette M. Reinhart, and she died on December 29, 2008.

Survivors include a son, David Mitten, of Fostoria; two daughters, Marlene (Sam) Quillen of Bloomville and Barbara (Mark) Armstrong of Carey; eight grandchildren, Mandi James, Matthew Quillen, Amanda Morris, Sarah Steele, Jacob Quillen, Caleb Quillen, Jackie (Armstrong) Mattson, Mark M. Armstrong; eight great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by; five brothers, Louis, Raymond, Delmar, Howard, and Marion Mitten; six sisters, Ruth Henry, Bernice Coffman, Irene Goshe, Sr. Mary Ida Mitten, Mary Mitten and Frances Mitten.

Clarence attended Carey High School and he served as a Fireman 1st Class in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946. He was a machinist at National Machinery Company for 43 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Quarter Century Club and the American Legion.

Visitation will be 4-8 pm Friday, June 19, 2009 at Traunero Funeral Home 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113. There will be a Wake Service at 3:45 pm Friday at the funeral home. The Quarter Century Club will gather at 7 pm, Friday at the funeral home.

Prayers will be said at 10:30 am, Saturday, June 20, 2009 at the funeral home followed by the funeral Mass at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. The Rosary will be recited 20 minutes prior to the Mass at the church.

Burial will take place immediately following in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The United Veterans Council of Seneca County will perform military rites at the gravesite.

Contributions may be made to Chiara Unit of St. Francis Home, American Heart Association or to St. Joseph Catholic Church in care of Traunero Funeral Home.
