Charles Hugo Bour

January 27, 1937 — July 19, 2025

Tiffin

Charles Hugo Bour, 88, of Tiffin, died Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Birchaven Village in Findlay.

He was born January 27, 1937, in Tiffin, the son of Charles R. and Kerstin (Stromgren) Bour.

He is survived by his wife Judy (Warnement), one son, Asa Bour, and his wife Julie (Hess) and their sons Leo and Roman.

He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, a life member of the Knights of Columbus Third Degree, and a life member of the NRA. He graduated from Calvert High School in 1955. Upon graduation, he took over management of the Dairy Queen where he worked through high school. Upon marrying in 1959, he and his wife bought the business and eventually changed the name to "Little Hugo's". They operated the business for the next 40 years. Hugo was quite proud that people, including health inspectors, said it was the cleanest place in the state!

Hugo loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and boating. He loved to waterski and taught dozens of young people to ski. His son, Asa, his favorite student, became proficient enough to ski competitively at the state level. They also sold Christmas trees for 12 years. Hugo personally bought the trees in northern Michigan and trucked them back to Tiffin. One year, he leased and drove a semi all night long through a heavy snowfall for the last 50 miles. His father-in-law did not help with the drive but prayed a lot. Hugo loved Michigan and went there with friends for over 40 years to paddle the fast-moving, clean, clear rivers. The best times were when his son, Asa, could also go along. The last couple of trips Hugo made, Asa and his wife, Julie, an excellent paddler, made for great and memorable outings. Hugo also enjoyed paddling in the Heritage Canoe Races with friends, especially when they won!

Hugo and Judy built a home on the Sandusky River in 1969. They enjoyed having friends and relatives come to their home to enjoy the river. Hugo considered his greatest accomplishments were winning the heart of his sweetheart Judy and raising Asa, a fine son.
