Betty R. Anderson, age 84, Tiffin, died Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 3:55 pm at St. Francis Home.
She was born on October 19, 1925 in Fostoria to the late Lorenz and Ruth (Werba) Anderson. Betty is survived by a sister, Arlene Skutch of Westport, Conn, one niece and one nephew.
Betty had a great soprano voice, having been taught by the great Paul Althouse. Myron Barnes coached her singing in Tiffin. During the 1940’s and 1950’s Betty had been a singer on Broadway, appearing in “The Day Before Spring” and “Finian’s Rainbow”, as well as other productions. Betty also performed in night clubs along the East Coast, singing opera. After retirement in the 1960’s she moved back to Tiffin. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin.
There will be no visitation.
Graveside services will be at 2 pm Monday, December 21, 2009 in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery officiated by Rev. Joseph Szybka.
