Athena D. West, 86, formerly of TR 165, Tiffin, died at 2:35 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2003, in Heartland of Perrysburg, Perrysburg, Ohio.
She was born October 16, 1916, in Turner, Maine, to the late Harold and Velva (Austin) Quimby. On April 8, 1946, in Portland, Maine, she married Donald J. West. He died December 11, 1989.
Surviving are a daughter, Sandra (David) Hammer, of Perrysburg; two grandchildren, Scott Michael Hammer, of Holland and Brian Lee Hammer, of Perrysburg; a great grandson, Brendan James Hammer, of Holland; two brothers, Carl Quimby, of Portland, Maine and Gene Quimby, also of Maine; and a sister, Barbara Haskell, of Kingston, New Hampshire.
Four brothers, Eldred, Raymond, Ivan, and Wendell Quimby, also preceded her in death.
A homemaker, Mrs. West had previously worked at Tiffin Glass; was a custodian at Columbian High School, and General Electric.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or the Diabetes Association in care of the funeral home.
