Anthony J. "Nini" Granata, 81, of Tiffin, died at 7:00 am Thursday, January 29, 2015, at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center, Tiffin.

Nini was born May 8, 1933 in Tiffin to Vincent and Rose (Santoro) Granata. He married Marjorie A. Kirchner, June 18, 1955 at St. Joseph Catholic Church and she survives in Tiffin.

Other survivors include a son, Stephen (Tammy) Granata of Dayton; a daughter, Lisa (Michael) McQueeney of Dubuque, Iowa; a brother, Joseph (Eloise) Granata of Tiffin; five grandchildren, Paige, Lauren, Ian, Lindsey and Jonathan; and two great-grandchildren, Owen and Connor.

Nini was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Gordon, Salvatore, Charles "Chick" and an infant brother.

He was a 1952 Calvert High School graduate.  He served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955 as a Corporal. Nini retired in 1990 after 38 years at Whirlpool Corp. in Clyde and was a long time assistant at Traunero Funeral Home. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Amvets, Eagles, American Legion and the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree.  He enjoyed many sports.  He coached, refereed and spent many years working the chain line for the Calvert High School football games.

Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015, at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883, 419-447-3113. Wake service will be 1:30 p.m at the funeral home.  Military honors will be performed at the funeral home at 6 pm Sunday by the United Veterans Council of Seneca County.

Prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2015, at the funeral home followed by the Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Walters officiating. The rosary will be recited 20 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Calvert Catholic Schools and to St. Mary Catholic Church in care of the funeral home.
