Amando Almendras Osmeña, 84, of Tiffin, died at 10:55 pm Thursday, July 22, 2021, at his residence.
Amando was born June 17, 1937, in Danao City, Cebu, Philippines to Ramon Duterte and Aurelia (Almendras) Osmeña. He married Rose Montecillo May 8, 1966, in the Philippines, and she survives in Tiffin.
Other survivors include three sons, Ranee (Laurie) Osmeña of Toledo, Rodney (Rachel) Osmeña of New Albany, Rene Osmeña of Tiffin; a daughter, Audra (David) Osmeña DeVictor of Phoenix, Arizona; five grandchildren, Dominic DeVictor, Maria DeVictor, Ayden Osmeña, Sofia Osmeña, Ava Osmeña; a brother, Rogelio Osmeña of the Philippines, and a sister, Pat Osmeña Misa of the Philippines.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Gloria Osmeña Angeles.
Amando earned Mechanical and Electrical Engineering degrees from the Cebu Institute of Technology University, later taught there, and worked for the Philippine government as a safety engineer. He came to Tiffin in 1972, and worked as a safety officer at General Electric Company Tiffin, where he was the last employee at the plant before it closed. Amando retired from Kelsey Hayes in Fremont in 2002. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Eagles, and Cebu Institute of Technology Alumni Association.
Visitation will be private. A funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 26, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Burial will be later in the Philippines.
